Drinking gin in South Africa will never be the same again

Jorgensen's Gin

An exception-to-the-rule gin

Every now and then a product comes along that makes me think ‘‘Wow! This is just perfect!” The problem being that this seems to happen every time Roger Jorgensen releases a new product from Jorgensen’s Distillery in Wellington and so this has occurred 5 times in the last 8 months!

We have just received our first load of Jorgensen’s Gin and it took just one sip to fall in love. Roger has once again created a product that is outstanding and this gin is going to bring great joy to all who are lucky enough to enjoy it! Continue reading

Everson’s Cider, a Mad-Hatter & Green Faeries

E & WF

Welcome to the family!

Last night we popped into the the Wine Affair at the V&A Waterfront to visit the Everson’s Cider stand, and followed that by collecting some stock from the Jorgensen’s Distillery stand at the Taste of Cape Town festival in Green Point. Not a bad way to spend an evening!

Everson's Cider

Look out for this label!

Our main reason for excitement was that we were able to meet up with William, Garda & Glynis from Everson’s to get our contract formalised and to be able to raise a toast to a future of working together.

Everson’s Cider fits in so nicely with all our other beautiful products, and we’re especially proud to have another superb quality, hand-crafted South African beverage to offer our clients. And there isn’t a more wonderful way of being able to say “Cheers!” to the future than with the product in hand! Continue reading

Tasting tantalizers @ Wasabi

Cooler box

A very cool cooler box

When we are on the road we are always looking to get our products into new venues, and sometimes this means pounding the pavements and trying to get to see the right people many times before having success. And then on occasion a meeting evolves which brings out the passion and love on all sides of the table and a delightful experience that was appreciated by all.

Wasabi Asian Restaurant

Treat your tastebuds

This was the case with Wasabi Asian Restaurant in Constantia Village, where we visit Jeremy at Riedel Aroma weekly to ensure his excellent store is always well stocked with our products. I had been into this exciting restaurant a number of times before I cornered MD Warren Fischer at the bar and introduced him to our catalogue.

“We need to do a tasting,” Warren said. “You bring the beer and I’ll provide the food because I’m looking for good beer.” Continue reading

Labories Lazy Days Market

World Focus stand

A stand from heaven

Since we started World Focus 2130CC we have not only taken our product into the trade selling into liquor stores and on-consumption venues, but very importantly appeared at music festivals, food fairs and markets as a means of getting in touch with the consumer directly. We don’t only sell booze, because anybody can do that, but enjoy engaging and educating people about all of the wonderful products that we have in our stable.

Laborie

Eat your heart out city-slickers!

Last Saturday, the 5th of February, saw Laborie host their first weekly Lazy Days Market in Paarl and we were once again there in force with a full range of beers, spirits and liqueurs. As I often say in welcome to inquisitive buyers, “Welcome to heaven” because anyone who enjoys good beer feels right at home when arriving at our stand! Continue reading

Blues & Beer!

Studerbakers

The Studerbakers

Saturday saw the first Little Known Blues Festival held at Bloemendal Wine Estate in the Durbanville hills and what an awesome event it turned out to be! The music was excellent, the much larger than expected crowd was relaxed and even the weather was as perfect as we could’ve wished for.

Napier

Lenny on tap

We had our full catalogue of international beers at our stand, the Robson’s range from Durban & Napier Breweries Lager & Ale on tap, and for those who wanted something a little stronger we were pouring the beautiful Primitiv Vodka & Naked Lemon Limoncello from Jorgensen’s Distillery in Wellington.  But the Blues boys really like their beer!

I was chatting to organisers Craig Cannon & Fritz Brand who were really happy with the turnout, having initially said that they would’ve been satisfied with 50 – 80 people attending. So you can imagine that their performances on stage were just that much better when they performed for some 300 people lounging under the trees around the Bush Pub stage. Continue reading

Little Known Blues Festival

World Focus team

The Trader Trio

Having been a part of the South African music scene for many years I really enjoy attending events that promote our many talented musicians from the Cape. Now we’re out there selling awesome beers & spirits which makes for an even more relaxing atmosphere in some really great settings.

This weekend (Saturday 15 January) we’ll be a part of the Little Known Blues Festival being launched at Bloemendal Wine Estate in the Durbanville hills, and we’ll not only be whetting your whistle, but hopefully also providing a bit more of an education as to what makes a great beer stand above the rest! Bikinis, babes & beer at Eden

Eden on the Bay

What a view!

The Eden on the Bay Christmas market is something new on the calendar, and although it has finished for the year, it is certainly one that will grow. The venue has some of the most breath-taking views, and apart from the wide variety of restaurants, shops and cafe’s, they have also created some great events that will set the venue above others.

Where else will you find some 450 bikini clad ladies strutting their stuff in bikini’s? Continue reading

International beers & gifts

Rockstar ladies

Ladies join the fun! Gents... be there!

We are very excited to have been invited to create a small international beer garden from today until Sunday at Eden on the Bay. Their market, that usually runs on Sundays, has become very popular and we had a great time there this past Sunday.

From today we will have a whole range of beautiful beers, as well as a number of other spirits that we will be offering as Christmas gifting – after all it is the season to be joyful!

I do also have to mention that on Saturday there will be a very exciting event! Eden on the Bay is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most bikini clad ladies in a parade. I’m sure we’re going to sell a hell of a lot of beer as the gents will need to calm their nerves! Continue reading

Beer festival of the year at Hillcrest!

Durbanville Beer Fest

Pour that man a Duvel!

For those who missed out on the Durbanville Beer Fest held at Hillcrest Wine Estate this past Saturday – you missed out on the party of the year and what is probably the best beer festival we’ve been to. The weather was perfect for a relaxed day lounging on the grass listening to some excellent music with some very fine beers to choose from.

We’d been expecting the Cape Doctor to blow the head off every beer we poured, but in the quarry at Hillcrest we were pretty well sheltered. Sunscreen flowed, shade brought strangers together and altogether not one complaint was heard from any of the beautiful crowd. Continue reading
