Hot Getaway Show quenched

Getaway Beers

The Beer Garden

It’s taken us a while to recover from last weekend’s Getaway Show held at Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West, but business waits for no man (or woman) and so, we’ve been running Into The Trade again for the last few days!

There’s been mixed reaction online as to how the show was received with some saying that there wasn’t enough food variety and the queue’s into the venue being too long, but we have only heard great things about our stand which we shared with Napier Brewery. As Craig Bradnick mentioned on Twitter, “@TheBeerGardenSA Best part of @GetawayShow was your stand. Rest of show was a disappointment.” That makes us happy! Continue reading

The beer garden

We smile so good cos our beer's so good!

We didn’t think it could get much busier than last weekend’s We Love Real Beer Summer Craft Beer Festival, but that was before this weekend came along! If it is not the perfect weekend to enjoy a couple of excellent real beers across the peninsula, then there never was one!

This weekend we have several teams that will be serving our wonderful beers at a whole lot of exciting events!

Lourensford

Liefmans ‘Cherry Beer’ was a hit!

We love real beer

Sunday 20 March saw the second We Love Real Beer Summer Craft Beer Fest 2011 at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock and the first that we have been involved with. We had heard so much about it and were very keen to get some of our range of beers into the festival for Cape Town to enjoy – and we were not disappointed!

The Beverage Emporium stand

Serving happy people

The moment the gates opened at 12h00 there was a rush into the venue and it was game on! Beer lovers streamed in and within 10 minutes, we were serving beers like there had been a warning that Sunday was the last day of the world and everyone had better enjoy it! But it was Belgium’s Liefmans Fruitesse, or ‘Cherry Beer‘ as it was being called, that caused the ladies to stampede our stand! Continue reading

Ommiberg and other March events

Ommiberg Fest

Party around the Rock

This weekend sees the Ommiberg Round the Rock Festival happening in Paarl. It’s Pick n Pay Argus Cycle Tour weekend and so there are going to be loads of visitors driving around the Mother City and surrounds and so we are looking forward to multitudes of wide-eyed, eager tourists arriving at the Laborie Lazy Days Market.

Laborie, Paarl

A good place to chill

Of course Laborie Wine Estate is a participating estate and apart from all the other activities they have planned, our market times have been extended for Saturday from 09h00 – 17h00. More time to sell more beer, spirits & liqueurs by educating people and opening their minds to some of the beautiful flavours and textures available. Why drink it just because your daddy did? Oyster and Champagne Fest 2011

Oyster Champagne 2011

The 5th annual event!

It’s that time of the year again! Bloemendal Wine Estates Oyster and Champagne Festival 2011 will be the 5th annual event where 1000’s of oysters are washed down with litres and litres of champagne!

Last year some 3500 people attended the 2 day festival and we had an awesome time at our own stand where we offered tastings and sales of The Wild Geese Irish Whiskey collection.

Whiskey tasting

A little whiskey with that?

This year is going to be slightly different in that our stand will be offering a wider array of top quality products not only from around the world, but also lots of South African product.

We will have our full beer & spirit range that we present at markets, as well as some awesome premium products that every discerning drinker should have in their booze cabinet as an alternative to the plonk that we are so used to. No names mentioned of course! Continue reading

Blues & Beer!

Studerbakers

The Studerbakers

Saturday saw the first Little Known Blues Festival held at Bloemendal Wine Estate in the Durbanville hills and what an awesome event it turned out to be! The music was excellent, the much larger than expected crowd was relaxed and even the weather was as perfect as we could’ve wished for.

Napier

Lenny on tap

We had our full catalogue of international beers at our stand, the Robson’s range from Durban & Napier Breweries Lager & Ale on tap, and for those who wanted something a little stronger we were pouring the beautiful Primitiv Vodka & Naked Lemon Limoncello from Jorgensen’s Distillery in Wellington.  But the Blues boys really like their beer!

I was chatting to organisers Craig Cannon & Fritz Brand who were really happy with the turnout, having initially said that they would’ve been satisfied with 50 – 80 people attending. So you can imagine that their performances on stage were just that much better when they performed for some 300 people lounging under the trees around the Bush Pub stage. Continue reading

Little Known Blues Festival

World Focus team

The Trader Trio

Having been a part of the South African music scene for many years I really enjoy attending events that promote our many talented musicians from the Cape. Now we’re out there selling awesome beers & spirits which makes for an even more relaxing atmosphere in some really great settings.

This weekend (Saturday 15 January) we’ll be a part of the Little Known Blues Festival being launched at Bloemendal Wine Estate in the Durbanville hills, and we’ll not only be whetting your whistle, but hopefully also providing a bit more of an education as to what makes a great beer stand above the rest!
